Beautiful video of Cork and Kinsale

This is a great little video that shows Cork city and nearby Kinsale if you were interested in seeing a bit more of where I'm living...

Puckering up for the gift of the gab

Kissing the Blarney Stone has been at the back of my mind since I was a kid. I don't know when I heard about it but I just remember learning that

Day trips (there's a theme here) - Clonakilty and Inchdoney Beach

On a week where I hadn't planned to go anywhere on my days off, I woke to a stunning late summer day, the kind of day that you know you have to get outside and make the most of or regret it all winter.

More day trips - Waterford

Back in August I headed off to a small city called Waterford, about 2 hours 15mins bus ride north of Cork. Waterford is often the first stop for couch tours in Ireland since it is nearby one of the UK - Ireland ferry ports.

Ring of Kerry Bus Tour - day trips part three

My amazing friend Kate came to visit this week and we headed off with Paddywagon tours again to spend the day checking out the Ring of Kerry - that famous drive around the Iveragh Peninsula.

Irish vs. Scottish - two of the coolest accents in the world

I'm pretty terrible at remembering, noting and describing accents but it's been so fun being surrounded by awesome accents and local dialogues while over here. I think it's hard when you are living somewhere to pick up fun or interesting things about them though as you get used to it pretty fast.

Daytripper, Ireland Style (part one) - Cobh, Kinsale and Blarney

Cobh
The first place I've been to here outside of Cork is a very pretty little seaside town called Cobh - pronounced Cove - about half an hour from Cork on the train.

Homeward bound, briefly

Only three months to go before I'm back home in Christchurch - for a quick visit only! I'm honoured and excited to be bridesmaid at Anna and Garth's wedding on the 22nd November!

Some travel inspirations

Every now and then I come across a blog or see an ad or movie that tugs at the wanderlust strings in my heart so I thought I'd share some of them here.

Already a whole month in Ireland

So it turns out I was technically living here illegally for a month due to the strangely missing immigration checks on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Another day, another castle

Particularly while in Scotland, it became a running joke with my dad that Scotland = Castles. According to him, every time I'd step outside the door I'd be off to see another one.

Songs that made Scotland

A selection of the songs that made my time in Scotland so great. Mainly for my own memories as music is such a great way to bring back good times and it's amazing how easy it is to forget.

I've got a new stamp in my passport!

It's a shame I need to renew my passport soon as I've just gotten another stamp in it from my trip to Berlin, Germany, at the end of January.

Christmas in Edinburgh

Unfortunately I didn't get a lovely white Christmas this year, in fact it was almost like home with blue skies and sun - but with a cold wind and getting dark by 4pm!
